Photographing Heather and Chris

Looks like I can check 1) attending a rave and 2) see a grown man wear a giant light-up mouse head off my long list of things to accomplish in life!
I was assigned by AnnArbor.com to shoot DJ deadmau5 at Eastern Michigan last weekend. He has a devoted following of young, neon-wearing dance types and they came out dressed to the nines for his performance. Speaking of, he perfrom high atop the stage looking down from a massive cube-like structure covered in LED lights. It was quite the visual show.
A creative fan shows off his homemade mouse head.
Managed to catch deadmau5 without his mouse head.
I met Eric Bronson right after I moved to Ann Arbor in 2009. He was a Nikon shooter on the sidelines of Michigan football and I was the new girl with confusing Nikon gear and no real clue how to navigate the "Big House." In no time we became friends, turned out that Eric had just moved back to Michigan too, except this time he brought with him his fiancee Katie, a naturalist from California.
Eric and Katie meet in Alaska, where they lived a life of boats, water, fish and adventure. They moved to Hawaii shortly after, insert wild adventures here, like studying and photographing whales (talk about a dream right?) They made the decision to move to Michigan where Eric could pursue his photography career and that (quickly) brings us to last Saturday. Eric and Katie got married on his family's lake front property in Fenton. They mixed a little Hawaii with a little Alaska and dropped it in a classic Michigan fall setting and bam! a beautiful yet original wedding.
Congratulations Katie and Eric! Thanks for being you, being friends and many, happy adventurous days ahead!
We had to give this American Gothic inspired moment a try! Plus they had a pitchfork in the shed, I couldn't help myself.
This photo pretty much sums everything up. Eric and Katie flew in beautiful flowers from Hawaii for their leis, wore their big rubber boots from Alaska and mixed it with a beautiful fall day in Michigan.
Katie actually arrived by boat from a neighboring house. Talk about a dramatic entrance!
